रीतापन चिड़िया आयी उसके करीब एक चिड़िया और आयी चहचहायी सारा आकाश भर गया चिड़िया की चहचहाहट से जीवन का रीतापन भर नहीं पाया आदमी परस्पर मधुर संवाद से ! Emptiness A bird alighted; Near it another bird Came and sang. The entire sky Resounded with the birds’ singing. It’s man only who could not fill His life’s emptiness With mutual mild talk.

रास्ते चिड़िया! पूरा आकाश तुम्हारा है हर बार तुम अपने लिए अपना रास्ता बनाती हो सुदूर क्षितिज तक आती-जाती और चहचहाती हो दुनिया ने जितने रास्ते बनाये उनमें लोग कभी भरमाये पर तुम्हारा रास्ता साफ़ है जिससे गुजरने पर सारा आकाश जैसा है वैसा ही रहता है! Paths Bird, the entire sky Is yours. Each time You fly you make Your own path. Then you travel From one end of the horizon To the other singing all the while. But the world gets lost, Or is ruined, Or loses itself Travelling the paths It made for itself. Your path, Bird, however, Is always defined. In using it You leave the sky pristine.

बंटवारा आकाश सबका दीवारें हमारी अपनी नदी सबकी गागर हमारी अपनी धरती सबकी आँगन हमारा अपना विराट सबका सीमाएं हमारी अपनी Division The sky belongs To everyone,but Walls? They are our own. The river is for all. But vessels Are our own. The earth is for everyone. But courtyards Are our own. This limitless world Is for all. But boundries Are our own.

भाई तुम महान हो मैंने आकाश से कहा- तुम बहुत ऊँचे हो आकाश ने मुस्कुराकर कहा- तुम मुझसे भी ज्यादा ऊँचे हो मैंने सागर से कहा- तुम खूब गहरे हो सागर ने लहराकर कहा- तुम मुझसे भी अधिक गहरे हो मैंने सूरज से कहा- सूरज दादा! तुम बहुत तेजस्वी हो सूरज ने हसंकर कहा - तुम मुझसे भी कई गुने तेजस्वी हो मैंने आदमी से कहा- भाई तुम महान ही आदमी झट से बोला- तुम ठीक कहते हो! Man you are Great I said to the sky, ‘You are so high!’ The sky smiled And said,’you are higher than me.’ I said to the sea, ‘You are so deep.’ The sea swelled up and said, ‘You are deeper than me.’ I said to the Sun, ‘Dear Sun’ You are so bright.’ The Sun laughed and said, ‘You are many times Brighter than me.’ I said to man, ‘Man, you are great.’ Man said without Hesitation, ‘You are so right.’ -
निसर्ग सूरज ने कहा- अपने द्वार खोलो मेरी रोशनी तुम्हारी होगी वृक्षों ने कहा- मेरे करीब बैठो मेरी छाया तुम्हारी होगी नदियों ने कहा - मेरे किनारे आकर हाथ बढ़ाओ मेरी बहती धारा तुम्हारी होगी मैंने ऐसा ही किया अब रोशनी मेरी है छाया भी मेरी है मेरे जीवन की धारा निर्बाध बहती है Offering The Sun said, ‘Open your door. My light is yours.’ The trees said, ‘Sit near us. Our shade is yours.’ The river said, ‘Come close and Touch me. My flowing Water is yours.’ I did what they bid Me to do. Now the light is mine. The shade is mine. The river of my life Flows on smoothly.

उड़ान नदी के ऊपर उड़ती चिड़िया ने आवाज़ दी नदी ने मुस्कुराकर कहा - बोलो चिड़िया चिड़िया ने और ऊँची उड़ान ली पहाड़ के ऊपर उड़ती चिड़िया ने आवाज़ दी पहाड़ ने धीरे से कहा- बोलो चिड़िया चिड़िया ने और ऊँचे उड़ते-उड़ते पुकारा पर आवाज़ खो गयी चिड़िया लौट आयी है वह कहती है कि अपनी आवाज़ अपने तक आती रहे इतना ही ऊँचे उड़ना Flight The bird called the river As it flew above it. The river smiled And said,’Speak, Bird.’ The bird flew higher. Flying above the cliff The bird called. The cliff said softly, ‘Speak, Bird.’ The bird Flew higher and higher. Its voice got lost. The bird has returned now To say, Fly only as high As the reach of Your own call.’

मुखौटे अपने बच्चों को डराने धमकाने हमने कुछ डरावने चेहरे अपने लिए बनवाए थे बच्चे कुछ दिन डरते रहे फिर असलियत जानकर हँसते रहे अब बच्चे बड़े हो गए हैं हमारे चेहरे लगाकर हमें ही डरा रहे हैं! Masks To scare our children We made some scary Masks. The children were frightened For a while. When they got wise about the masks, They smiled. The children are No longer small. They frighten us now Wearing our masks.

भगवान भगवन कितना बड़ा है मैंने एक बच्चे से पूछा उसने दोनों हाथ फैलाये और जैसे मुझे समझाया कि इतना बड़ा तब सचमुच मुझे भी लगा कि जितना जिसके जीवन में समा जाए भगवान उतना ही बड़ा! GOD I asked a child, ‘How big is God?’ The child smiled And stretched both His arms wide. The child wanted me to learn The vastness of God, And then I knew That God is only as big As your own life’s grasp.

घोंसला मैंने चिड़िया को घोंसला बनाते देखा है मैंने उसे दाना चुगते और झट से आकाश में उड़ते देखा है मैं चाहता हूँ कि चिड़िया मुझे भी यह सब सिखाए कि किस तरह जमीन से जुड़े रहकर आकाश में उड़ा जा सकता है, कि किस तरह असीम आकाश में उड़ने का अहसास एक घोंसले में रहकर भी जीवित रखा जा सकता है! Nest I have watched the bird Make its nest. I have watched the bird Gather grain and then fly away far in the sky. I wish the bird would teach me How to remain Connected to the earth While in flight, and How to keep alive A sense of the sky, While in the nest.

विश्वास मैंने पूछा चिड़िया से कि आकाश असीम है क्या तुम्हें अपने खो जाने का भय नहीं लगता ? चिड़िया कहती है कि वह अपने घर लौटना जानती है! Faith I asked the bird, ‘The sky is vast, Are you not afraid Of getting lost?’ The bird said, ‘I Know how to return To my own perch.’

बारिश चिड़िया भीग जाती है जब बारिश आती हैं नदी भर जाती है जब बारिश आती है धरती गीली हो जाती है पर बहुत मुश्किल हैं इस तरह आदमी का भीगना और भर पाना आदमी के पास बचने का उपाय है न! Rain The bird gets drenched When it rains’ The river overflows. The earth is soaked When it rains But for man When it rains, It is hard To get drenched, Hard to overflow. Man knows How to escape.
