वसन्त का अन्त होने से
विकलित
वन-जीवन-वदन-सम
सन्त-संगति से वंचित हुआ
घर की ओर जा रहा सेठ...!
हरियाली को हरने वाली
मृग-मरीचिका से भरी
सुदूर तक फैली मरुभूमि में
सागर-मिलन की आस-भर ले
बलहीन सपाट-तट वाली
सरकती पतली सरिता-सी
घर की ओर जा रहा सेठ...!
प्राची की गोद से उछला
फिर
अस्ताचल की ओर ढला
प्रकाश-पुंज प्रभाकर-सम
आगामी अन्धकार से भयभीत
घर की ओर जा रहा सेठ...!
कृष्ण-पक्ष के चन्द्रमा की-सी
दशा है सेठ की
शान्त-रस से विरहित कविता-सम
पंछी की चहक से वंचित प्रभात-सम
शीतल चन्द्रिका से रहित रात-सम
और
बिन्दी से विकल
Sobbing like a child,
The wealthy trader is tracking his way home,
With deeper respirations...!
At the termination of the spring season
Being restless
Like the face of the wild-life
The wealthy trader is moving homewards,
After being excluded from the association of saints...! In the wide-spread desert
Which plunders greenery,
Which is enveloped with mirage,
Like a thin crawling river
Having flowless and flat shores,
With only some hope of embracing the ocean
The wealthy trader is tracking his way home...!
Which springs up from the lap of the East
Then
Which sets behind the Western Mount
Like that mass of light, the Sun,
The eminent trader is moving homewards,
On being afraid of the approaching Darkness...!
The condition of the wealthy trader
Is similar to that of the moon of the dark fortnight,
Like the verses vacant with the sentiment of quietude Like the dawn devoid of the warbling of birds Like the night without the cool moon-light
And
Vacant with a tiny round mark of vermilion (Bindī) -
