गड़-गड़ाहट ध्वनि करते
सजल, लोचन-युगल।
सावण की चौंसठ धार
पात्र के पाद-प्रान्त में
प्रणिपात करते हैं…

धरती ने
अनायास, सहज रूप से
बादल की कालिमा को
धो डाली,
अन्यथा
वर्षा के बाद
बादल-दल वह
विमल होता क्यों ?...''
कुम्भ के मुख से कविता सुनी
कम शब्दों में, सार के रूप में,
दाता की गौरव-गाथा
आचार-संहिता ही सामने आई,
आदर्श में अपना मुख दिखा
विमुख हुआ जो आदर्श जीवन से,
जिस मुख पर
बेदाग होने का दम्भ-भर
दमक रहा था।
सेठ की आँखें खुल गईं,
वह अपने को संयत बनाता,
सब कुछ भ्रान्तियाँ धुल गईं।
Produce a thundering sound,
Both the eyes brimming with tears.
The sixty four-fold currents of the month of Sāvana
Prostrate upon the feet-spot
Of the worthy...Sacred guest (Munirāja)
Thereafter...indeed...
The earth
Easily, in a natural way
Washes away
The blackness of the cloud,
Otherwise
After the rains
Why that band of clouds,
Would have become spotless ?”
The verse was heard from the mouth of the pitcher
In brief and substantial form,
The glorious story of the benefactor
The moral code of conduct was indeed, presented,
The one, who has forsaken his ideal life,
After showing his face mirrored forth into the ideals, - The face, on which
Only the false pride of being unstained Was shining off. The eyes of the noble trader
Were woke up from sleep,
He exercised self-control upon himself,
All the misapprehensions were cleansed away.
