भाँति-भाँति की भ्रान्तियाँ
यूँ दाताओं से होती गईं,
‘‘हाँ! हाँ !!
यही स्थिति हमारी भी हो सकती है”
यूँ कुम्भ ने कहा सेठ को-
और
सेठ को सचेत किया-
‘‘पात्र से प्रार्थना ही
पर अतिरेक नहीं,
इस समय सब कुछ
भूल सकते हैं
पर विवेक नहीं।
तन, मन और वचन से
दासता की अभिव्यक्ति हो,
पर उदासता की नहीं।
अधरों पर मन्द मुस्कान हो,
पर मजाक नहीं।
उत्साह हो, उमंग हो
पर उतावली नहीं।
अंग-अंग से
विनय का मकरन्द झरे,
पर, दीनता की गन्ध नहीं।
और
इसी सन्दर्भ में सुनी थी
सन्तों से एक कविता,
सो..सुनो, प्रस्तुत है,
आदृत है बुध-स्तुत है :
धरती को प्यास लगी है
नीर की आस जगी है
The various types of misconceptions
Are thus committed by the benefactors,
“ Yes! yes !!
This very position may prevail upon us too"
Speaks thus the pitcher (kumbha) to the noble trader, And
Serves a note of caution to the noble trader-
“ A request may be made to holy guest-Munirāja
But no excess should be done,
We can, at this time,
Forget everything else
But discretion.
A sense of due service should be expressed
Through the body, the mind and the word
But not that of indifference.
There should play a tender smile across the lips,
But not buffoonery.
There should be enthusiasm and gust
But not impatience.
The pollen of humility should fall off
From each and every limb,
But there should be no smell of pitiableness.
And,
In this very context
A poem was heard from the saints,
Therefore...hark, it is presented,
It is honoured, and is admired by the wise :
The land is thirsty
The hope for water has awakened –
