जलद बना जल बरसाता रहा
और
अपने दोष-छद्म छुपाता रहा
जलधि को बार-बार भर-भर कर...!
कई बार भानु को घूस देने का
प्रयास किया गया
पर न्याय-मार्ग से विचलित नहीं हुआ
...वह
परन्तु,
इस विषय में चन्द्रमा विचलित हुआ
और
उसने जलतत्त्व का पक्ष लिया,
लक्ष्य से च्युत हो,
भर-पूर घूस ले लिया।
तभी...तो
चन्द सम्पदा का स्वामी भी आज
सुधाकर बन गया चन्द्रमा !
वसुधा की सारी सुधा
सागर में जा एकत्रित होती
फिर प्रेषित होती...ऊपर...
और
उस सुधा का सेवन करता है।
सुधाकर, सागर नहीं
सागर के भाग्य में क्षार ही लिखा है।
‘‘यह पदोचित कार्य नहीं हुआ-
मेरे लिए सर्वथा अनुचित है”
यूँ सोच कर चन्द्रमा को लज्जा-सी
आती है
उज्वल भाल कलंकित हुआ उसका
Being moulded into the clouds, keeps on raining
And
Goes on concealing its faults and frauds
By filling up the ocean once and again...!
An effort is made on many occasions
To bribe the Sun
But, from the path of justice, does not flinch
...He
But,
On the other side, the Moon gets distracted
And
Having taken the side of the watery substance,
She, deviating from her aim,
Takes the bribe to her heart's fill.
That is...why
The owner even of a little of wealth, the Moon
Becomes the ‘mine of nectar' to-day!
All the nectar of the Earth
Flows into the ocean and gets deposited there,
Then, it is remitted...upwards…
And
It is utilized
By the moon, and not by the ocean,
Only salty element is fated for the ocean.
It has not been a deed according to
the dignity-
it is improper for me by all means’ –
Thinking thus, the Moon feels ashamed
Her brighter fore-head gets stained -
