बहता-बहता
कह रहा है :
लो!
यह संधि-काल है ना!
महक उठी सुगन्धि है।
छोर-छोर तक, चारों ओर।
मेरे लिए
इससे बढ़ कर श्रेयसी
कौन-सी हो सकती है
...सन्धि वह!
न निशाकर है, न निशा
न दिवाकर है, न दिवा
अभी दिशाएँ भी अन्धी हैं;
पर की नासा तक
इस गोपनीय वार्ता की गन्ध
...जा नहीं सकती-
ऐसी स्थिति में
उनके मन में
कैसे जाग सकती है
...दुरभि-सन्धि वह!
और… इधर…
सरिता… सामने
जो सरपट सरक रही है
अपार सागर की ओर
सुन नहीं सकती, इस वार्ता को
कारण !
पथ पर चलता है
सत्पथ-पथिक वह
मुड़ कर नहीं देखता
तन से भी, मन से भी।
With its onward motion
It is telling:
Lo!
It is indeed the twilight-hour of dawning !
The fragrance is perfuming
All around, upto the distant limit.
For me
What juncture...
Can be more auspicious
Than this one !
There is neither the moon, nor the night
Neither the Sun, nor the day
All the directions too are at present blind;
The odour of this confidential discourse
...Can't even reach-
The nose of others !
In such a situation
How can arise
Into their minds
That crafty contrivance…!
And...hither...before me
The river...
Which is gliding fast
Towards the vast sea
Can't hear this discourse
Because !
The Wayfarer of a virtuous path
While treading his way onwards
Doesn't turn back to see
Even by the body, or by the mind too.
