अपने भविष्य-भाल को
और दूषित करना है!''
दल की दमनशील धमकियों से
सेठ के सिवा
परिवार का दिल हिल उठा,
उसके दृढ़ संकल्प को
पसीना-सा छूट गया!
उसकी जिजीविषा बलवती हुई
और वह
जीवन का अवसान
अकाल में देख कर
आत्म-समर्पण के विषय में
सोचने को बाध्य होता, कि
नदी ने कहा तुरन्त,
उतावली मत करो!
सत्य का आत्म-समर्पण
और वह भी
असत्य के सामने कैसे ?
हे भगवन्!
यह कैसा काल आ गया,
क्या असत्य शासक बनेगा अब ?
क्या सत्य शासित होगा ?
हाय रे, जौहरी के हाट में
आज हीरक-हार की हार!
हाय रे, काँच की चकाचौंध में
मरी जा रही-
Is to vitiate still more
My own future-forehead!”
By the repressive threatenings of the group,
The heart of the family gets terrified
Except that of the eminent trader,
His firm resolution
Seems to be perspiring !
His will-to-live gets strengthened
And he,
On beholding the untimely
Termination of life,
Would have just felt compelled
For thinking about his surrender, when
The river at once adds,
“ Don't be impatient !
The surrender by the truth,
And that too,
How before the falsehood ?
O God !
What type of era has ushered in ?
Shall the Falsehood be the ruler now?
Shall the Truth be a slave to it ?
Ah me, the defeat of a diamond necklace today
In the market of jewellers !
Alas! before the dazzling of the glass
Is at the point of death,
