कुन्दपुष्प-सम शुभ्र
लोटे-प्याले-कटोरे
राकेन्दु-सम रजतिम
थालियाँ, कलशियाँ, बढ़िया-बढ़िया
स्फटिक की माणिक की झारियाँ
तरह-तरह की तश्तरियाँ
चम-चम चम-चम
चमकने वाली चमचियाँ
यह सब क्या हो रहा है ?...
यूँ सोचते चमत्कृत हो गये सब!
फिर...इधर...यह क्या घटा!
शीतल जल से भरा पीतल-कलश
भीतर-ही-भीतर पीड़ित हुआ
पराभव का बँट पीता-पीता
जलता हुआ उबलता
और पीलित हुआ।
सुवर्ण के द्वार पर
श्याम-वरण का स्वागत देख,
स्वर्ण-कलश का वर्ण वह
और तमतमाने लगा,
जिसका वर्णन वर्गों से सम्भव नहीं;
आपे से बाहर हुआ।
स्वर्ण-कलश की मुख-गुफा से
आक्रोश-भरी शब्दावली फूटती है
साक्षात् ज्वालामुखी का रूप धरती-सी :
“आज का दिन भी
पूर्ण नहीं हुआ अभी
और
आगत का इतना स्वागत-समादर!
The mugs, cups and bowls
As bright as white Jessamine flowers
The platters and the small round jars
Silvery like the full moon,
The water-jugs of crystals and rubies nice and fine,
The dishes of different shapes and size,
The glittering spoons
With a sparkling brightness, -
What is this all happening...?
- Lost in fancies, all of them feel amazed !
Then...hither...what is it that happens !
The brass-vase filled with cold water,
Feeling pained from within,
While drinking the draught of insult once and again, Being inflammed, gets
Boiled and more pallid.
On seeing the reception of the ‘black-coloured' -
At the gate of the ‘fair-coloured' –
That hue of the golden pitcher
Grows more reddened,
Which is beyond description through the words;
Loses all control over itself.
Through the mouth-cavity of the golden pitcher
Wrathful wordings are issued forth,
As if some volcano assumes its true shape :
“Even the current day
Hasn't yet ended,
And
So much of regard and reception to a stranger !
