कपोल-तल से फिसलता हुआ,
विरोध के रूप में आ खड़े
वैरियों के पाषाण-वक्षस्थल को भी
मृदुल फूल बनाता है।
हममें अनमोल बोल पले हैं,
और
तुममें केवल पोल मिले हैं।
एक बात और है, कि
विकसित या विकास-शील
जीवन भी क्यों न हो,
कितने भी उज्वल-गुण क्यों न हो,
पर से स्व की तुलना करना
पराभव का कारण है
दीनता का प्रतीक भी।
और
वह तुलना की क्रिया ही
प्रकारान्तर से स्पर्धा है;
। स्पर्धा प्रकाश में लाती है
कहीं...सुदूर...जा...भीतर बैठी
अहंकार की सूक्ष्म सत्ता को।
फिर, अहंकार को सन्तोष कहाँ ?
बिना सन्तोष, जीवन सदोष है
यही एक कारण है, कि
प्रशंसा-यश की तृष्णा से झुलसा
यह सदोष जीवन
सहज जय-घोषों की, सुखद गुणों की
सघन-शीतल छाँव से वंचित रहता है।
वैसे, स्वयं यह
‘स्व' शब्द ही कह रहा है कि
Sliding down from the surface of the cheeks,
Transforms into the tender flowers;
Even the stony chest of the foes
Who stand in the form of opposition.
Invaluable utterings have been nourished within us, And
Only hollowness has been found into you.
There is one thing more, that
Whether life is developed,
Or it may be developing,
Whether there are so many bright qualities,
To compare the ‘Self' with the 'Non-self'
Is the cause of discomfiture
Is a symbol of sorry plight too.
And
That very act of comparison
began Is, in another way, rivalry;
godd The rivalry brings out into light
The subtle existence of egotism
Which is seated...far...deep...within.
Then, where is satisfaction to egotism ?
Without contentment, life is faulty,
This is the very reason, why
Scorched by the desire of name and fame -
This blemished life –
Is deprived of the dense and cool shade Of the natural cheers of triumph, of delightful merits.
In that way, the word ‘swa', that is ‘self,’
Is indeed itself indicating that, –
