यूँ कहता-कहता हास्य रस ने
एक कहावत कह डाली
कहकहाहट के साथ-
“आधा भोजन कीजिये
दुगुणा पानी पीव।
तिगुणा श्रम चउगुणी हँसी,
वर्ष सवा सौ जीव!"
प्रसन्नता आसन्नभव्य की आली है
प्रसन्नता एक आश्रय, दिव्य डाली है
जिस पर...
गुणों के फलों-फूलों के दल
सदा-सदा दोलायित होते हैं।
“ओरे हँसिया!
हँस-हँस कर बहस मत कर
हास्य रस की कीमत इतनी मत कर!
तेरे अभिमत पर हम सम्मत नहीं हैं,
हँसी की बात हम स्वीकार नहीं सकते
सत्य-तथ्य की भाँति किसी कीमत पर!"
शिल्पी ने यूँ फिर से कहा-
‘‘खेद-भाव के विनाश हेतु
हास्य का राग आवश्यक भले ही हो
किन्तु वेद-भाव के विकास हेतु
हास्य का त्याग अनिवार्य है
हास्य भी कषाय है ना!
हँसन-शीलवाला
प्रायः उतावला होता है
कार्याकार्य का विवेक
At their history
It seems befitting neither to weep nor to laugh !”
Uttering thus, the sentiment of humour,
Added a proverb with a boisterous laughter -
“Take the food at half of the due quantity
Drink the water in the double amount
Work hard in a three-fold measure,
and laugh in a fourfold quantum"
That is how one can live for quarter past hundred years !'Delightfulness is a friend to the near-lucky
one to salvation,
Delightfulness is a shelter, a divine branch
Upon which..
The tufts of flowers and fruits of virtues
Swing for ever and ever.
“ O Thou the jester !
Don't enter into argument laughingly
Don't value the sentiment of humour so much!
We do not approve of thy idea,
We can't agree upon the jocular view
Like true reality, at any cost !
The Artisan again adds thus -
“For uprooting the sense of sorrow
The liking for humour may be necessary indeed,
But for the development of the sense of divine knowledge
The abandoning of joking is inevitable,
Joking is really a foul emotion (Kașāya) !
A jolly fellow
Is generally a rash fellow
Is the power to discriminate between good or bad actions,
