पश्चाताप के साथ कंटक कहता है
कि
“अहित में हित
और
हित में अहित
निहित-सा लगा इसे,
मूल-गम्य नहीं हुआ
चूल-रम्य नहीं लगा इसे
बड़ी भूल बन पड़ी इससे।
प्रतिकूल पद बढ़ गये
वह पीछे...बहुत... दूर
अनुकूल पथ रह गया
गन्ध को गन्दा कहा
चन्द को अन्धा कहा
पीयूष विष लगा इसे
भूल क्षम्य हो स्वामिन्!
और इसे एक अच्छा मन्त्र दो,
परिणामस्वरूप
आमूल जीवन इसका
प्रशम-पूर्ण शम्य हो
फिर, क्रमशः जीवन में
वह भी समय आये-
शरणागतों के लिए
अभय-पूर्ण शरण्य हो।
परम नम्य हो यह भी।”
इस पर शिल्पी कहता है, कि
“मन्त्र न ही अच्छा होता है।
न ही बुरा
अच्छा, बुरा तो
अपना मन होता है
The thorn adds with a sense of remorse
That
“It seemingly felt
The useful hidden into the harmful
And
The detrimental hidden into the beneficial,
The approach couldn't reach the root
The crest didn't appear to it pleasant,
It committed a blunder.
The adverse steps covered up,
A long distance...backward...
The favourable path remained behind,
The fragrance was said to be filthy
The moon was declared blind,
It seemingly felt
The nectar to be poison,
The error be pardoned, my Lord!
Let it be blessed with an excellent Mantra-incantation,
As a result of which
Its life, from top to bottom,
Should be pacified and blissful
Then, gradually, that period
Should come in the life-span –
Which should be an abode of shelter
Fear-free for the fugitives
It should be also highly venerable.”
On hearing this, the Artisan says that :
“A Mantra - incantation - is neither good
Nor bad
Good or bad, indeed,
Is our own mind.
