In a foreign country, I have often been asked about India, which prompted me to study and write about the various aspects of the life of my mother country, its history, geog- raphy, religion, economy, politics and so on. While I was in the process of doing so, the chapter on the British rule in India became unusually long. So, I decided to trans- form this particular chapter into a separate book by itself dealing with only one aspect of British rule-economic, the nucleus of their rule in India. The result is in the hands of the readers.
Previously, I gave the title of my manuscript 'British- the magnificent robbers of India' as my research has led me to believe without any iota of doubt that the British rule in India was nothing but a daylight robbery on a gigantic scale. I still believe that, although I have changed the word 'robbers' to 'exploiters'
