किस गुणस्थान में कितनी परीषह होते हैं, यह बतलाते हैं-
सूक्ष्मसाम्परायच्छद्मस्थवीतरागयोश्चतुर्दश ॥१०॥
अर्थ - सूक्ष्म साम्पराय नाम के दसवें गुणस्थान में और छद्मस्थवीतराग यानि ग्यारहवें और बारहवें गुणस्थान में क्षुधा, पिपासा, शीत, उष्ण, दंशमशक, चर्या, शय्या, वध, अलाभ, रोग, तृणस्पर्श, मल, प्रज्ञा और अज्ञान ये चौदह परीषह होते हैं। मोहनीय कर्म के उदय से होने वाले आठ परीषह नहीं होते, क्योंकि ग्यारहवें और बारहवें गुणस्थान में मोहनीय कर्म का उदय ही नहीं है। दसवें में केवल लोभ संज्वलन कषाय का उदय है, वह भी अत्यन्त सूक्ष्म है। अत: दसवाँ गुणस्थान भी वीतराग छद्मस्थ के ही तुल्य है। इसलिए उसमें भी मोहजन्य आठ परीषह नहीं होते।
English - There are fourteen stages of the transmigratory soul. Fourteen afflictions occur in the case of the saints in the tenth and twelth stages. These are hunger, thirst, cold, heat, insect bite, pain arising from roaming, uncomfortable couch, injury, lack of gain, illness, pain inflicted by blades of grass, dirt, the arrogance of learning and despair or uneasiness arising from ignorance.
