पर-सम्पदाएँ मिलने पर भी
उनको मैंने स्वप्न में भी
ना लीं।
और
अपनी उदारता दिखाने
किसी स्वार्थ या यश-लोकैषणावश
दूसरों को उन्हें न दीं
तभी...तो...हमें
सन्तों ने सार्थक संज्ञा दी-
...नाली!...नदी!
हमसे विपरीत चाल चलनेवाले
दीन होते हैं।
कुछ शिथिलाचारी साधुओं को
‘‘बहता पानी और रमता जोगी''
इस सूक्ति के माध्यम से
सही दिशा-बोध मिला है
इससे बढ़ कर भला
और कौन-सा वह
आदर्श हो सकता है संसार में!
इस आदर्श में अब
अपना मुख देख लो
और
पहचान लो अपने रूप-स्वरूप को!''
उच्छंखला जडाशया
अपनी ही प्रशंसा में डूबी-
नदी की बातें सुन
उत्तेजित हुए बिना
Even after encountering the worldly wealth
I haven't, even in dream,
Taken their possession.
And
To show my magnanimity
I have not bestowed it to others
Out of any selfish motive, for gaining fame or public superiority, That...is why...indeed
The saints assigned us a meaningful name... Nāli!..., that is, neither taken !...Nādī, that is, nor given...!
Those who conduct themselves contrary to us,
Become pitiable. -
Some ascetics of feeble conduct
Have attained a true sense of right direction
Through this saying -
“The rolling waters and the roaming ascetics'
Well, in this wide world,
What else can be that ideal
Better than this one !
Now into this ideal,
Try to have a look at your own face,
And
Identify your own image' and your own ‘self'!”
On hearing the utterings
Full of rude and foolish views of the river
Absorbed in self-praise,
- Without being excited -
