सपरिवार गज-समाज को
उदासी में डूबा देख
आपे में आ सर्पो ने कहा :
“क्षमा करें! क्षमा करें!!
क्षमा चाहते हम!
वैसे,
दो टूक बोलते नहीं हम
भूल-चूक की बात निराली है,
पूरा आशय प्रकट नहीं हो सका।
शेष सुन लो, सुनाते हम
टूटे-फूटे शब्दों में कि
जितने भी पद-वाले होते हैं।
और जो
प्रजापाल आदिक
प्रामाणिक पदों पर आसीन कराये गये हैं,
वे सब ऐसे ही होते हैं
ऐसी बात नहीं है।
कुछ पद ऐसे भी होते हैं
जिन पदों की पूजा के लिए
यह जीवन भी तरस रहा था
सुचिर काल से...कब से
आज घड़ी आ गई वह
हरस रहा है हृदय यह!"
और सर्वप्रथम
हर्षाश्रु-पूरित लोचनों से
पूज्य-पदों का अभिषेक हुआ
शत-शत प्रणिपात के साथ।
फिर, नाग और नागिन की
फणायें पूरी खुलीं
On beholding the herd of elephants
Sunk into depression, along with the family,
Out of humility, the serpents say:
“ Please forgive us ! please forgive us !
We beg your pardon !
In that way,
We don't talk so frankly
The point of lapse is something peculiar,
The complete sense couldn't be expressed.
Listen to what remains, we tell it
In plain and simple words that
Whosoever they may be, almost all the incumbents
And those,
Who hold public offices etc.
Who have been posted in places of authority,
All of them are of the same sort, indeed -
It is not the whole truth.
There are some such feet also
For whose adoration
This life has been yearning
Since times gone by...since long,
Today has arrived that very hour –
This heart is throbbing with joy!”
And, at the very outset,
The holy feet are sanctified
with eyes, filled with the tears of joy,
Along with hundreds of prostrations.
Then, the hoods of the male and the female serpents Were fully expanded -
