अन्त-अन्त में
बिन छना तेल के कारण
भभकते दीपक की भाँति
आवेश में आ कर स्वर्ण-कलश ने,
परिवार सहित सेठ को
पीठ-पीछे वैद्य-दल को
और
ईष्र्या-द्वेष-मात्सर्य-मद
आवेग आदि के आश्रय-भूत
माटी के कुम्भ को भी
बहुत कुछ कह सुनाया,
परन्तु उसका
इस ओर कुछ भी असर नहीं पड़ा,
सब-कुछ यथावत् पूर्ववत् ही।
वैसे,
क्रोध की क्षमता है कितनी!
क्षमा के सामने कब तक टिकेगा वह ?
जिसे सर्प काटता है
वह मर भी सकता है
और नहीं भी,
उसे जहर चढ़ भी सकता है
और नहीं भी,
किन्तु
काटने के बाद सर्प वह
मूर्छित अवश्य होता है।
बस,
यही दशा स्वर्ण-कलश की हुई,
उसकी छाया निकट में पड़ी
छोटी-छोटी स्वर्ण-रजत की
कलशियों पर भी पड़ रही है।
While moving towards the end
Like a lamp flaring up
Due to unfiltered oil in it -
The golden pitcher, out of excitement,
Makes so many comments
Upon the eminent trader, including his family,
Upon the penal of physicians in their absence,
And
Upon the Earthen pitcher even,
Out of envy-jealousy-malice-pride
Strong incitement etc.-
But it
Has been ineffective indeed upon this side,
All really remains the same as before.
In that manner,
What is exactly the capability of anger !
How far shall it stay before forgiveness ?
The one who is bitten by a snake
May even pass away
And may not, indeed,
He may even get himself poisoned
And may not, really,
But
That snake, after biting,
Slips certainly into a swoon.
What else,
The golden pitcher has to face the same condition,
- Its shadow is falling upon
The other small jars of gold and silver,
Tiny in size and shape, lying near-by it.
