    अग्नि की शुद्ध-सुरभि को

    सूंघने हेतु उतावली करती है।

    कुम्भ के लोचन बन्द-से हुए थे

    धूम के कारण अन्ध-से हुए थे

    अब वह खुल गये हैं,

    शुद्ध अग्नि की आभा-वन्दन से

    तामसता के हटने-छँटने से

    अरुण अरविन्द-बन्धु के उदय से

    कमल-से खिल गये हैं।                                                       

     

    कुम्भ की पहली दृष्टि पड़ी

    निर्विकार-निर्धूम अग्नि पर।

    दूसरी दृष्टि के लिए

    दूसरा दृश्य ही नहीं मिला

    द्रष्टा ने दृष्टि को सब ओर दौड़ा दिया

    एक ही दृश्य मिला, चारों ओर फैला

    अग्नि...अग्नि...अग्नि...!

     

    भाँति-भाँति की लकड़ियाँ सब

    पूर्व की भाँति कहाँ रहीं अब!

    सबने अग्नि को आत्मसात् कर ली।

    ...पी डाली उसे बस!

    या, इसे यूँ कहूँ-

    अग्नि को जन्म दे कर अग्नि में लीन हुईं

    वह।

     

    प्रति वस्तु जिन भावों को जन्म देती है

    उन्हीं भावों से मिटती भी वह,

    वहीं समाहित होती है।

    यह भावों का मिलन-मिटन

     

    Is eager to smell

    The fair fragrance of the fire.

    The eyes of the pitcher seemed to be closed

    They seemed to be blinded due to smoke

    Now they have unfolded themselves,

    Due to the lustrous devotion of the sublime fire

    Due to the receding and cleaning of darkness

    Due to the uprise of the reddish lotus-friend,

    As if the lotuses were burst into blooming.

     

    The first sight of the pitcher viewed

    The immutable and smokeless fire.

    For some different vision

    No other scene was really, found

    The viewer extended his eye in all the directions.

    The one and the same scene was found all-around

    The fire...the fire...the fire...!

     

    - The different types of all the timber-pieces -

    Where they have been found now, as before !

    Having assimilated the fire,

    All of them have drunk it deep, indeed...!

    Or, to put it otherwise, —

    Having given birth to fire,

    They were themselves immersed into the fire.

     

    Everything, which gives birth to some particular

    Feelings, Gets itself effaced by those very feelings,

    It is merged therein. This

    integration and disintegration of the sentiments
