काँटे के उद्वेग-ऊष्मा के
उपशमन हेतु।
जब सुई से काम चल सकता है
तब तलवार का प्रहार क्यों करें?
जब फूल से काम चल सकता है
तब शूल का व्यवहार क्यों करें?
जब मूल में भूतल पर रह कर ही
फल हाथ लग रहा है
तब चूल पर चढ़ना वह
मात्र शक्ति-समय का अपव्यय ही नहीं,
सही मूल्यांकन का अभाव सिद्ध करता है।
यूँ, गन्ध-निधान गुलाब
नीति-नियोग की विधि बताता
प्रीति-प्रयोग की निधि दिखाता
अपने अभिन्न अनन्य मित्र
जो अणु-अणु से, कण-कण से
सुरभि का परिचय कराता
दिवि-दिगन्तों तक फैला कर
गन्ध-वाहक पवन का स्मरण करता है।
कुछेक क्षण निकलते, कि
विनय-विश्वास विचारशील
प्रकृति के अनुरूप प्रकृति वाला
वन-उपवन विचरण-धर्मा
Becomes specially active
Neither it interrupts against the thorn
Nor does it rebuke the thorn,
But
Makes timely utterances
For the pacification of
The excitement and heat of the thorn.
Where a needle may work
Why should a sword be blown ?
When a flower can serve the purpose
Why should a thorn be made use of ?
