उद्भीपन उतरता-सा गया,
अस्त-व्यस्त-सी स्थिति
...अब पूरी
स्वस्थ-शान्त हुई देख,
फिर से निवेदन, कर-जोड़ प्रार्थना:
‘‘हे कृपाण-पाणि! कृपाप्राण!
कृपापात्र पर कृपा करो
यह निधि स्वीकार कर
इस पर उपकार करो!
इसे उपहार मत समझो
यह आपका ही हार है, शृंगार
आपकी ही जीत है
इसका उपभोग-उपयोग करना
हमारी हार है, स्वामिन्!''
बोरियों में भरी उपरिल मुक्ता-राशि
बाहर की ओर झाँकती
कुम्भकार की इस विनय-प्रार्थना को
जो राजा से की जा रही है,
सुनती-देखती,
और
समझ भी रही है
राजा के मन की गुदगुदी को,
सम्मति की ओर झुकी
राजा की चिति की बुदबुदी को
मुख पर मन्द-मुस्कान के मिष
‘‘हे राजन्!
पदानुकूल है, स्वीकार करो इसे
यूँ मानो कह रही है।
The excitement seemed to be decreasing,
The position which seemed to be confused
On being found now...
To be entirely sound and quiet,
Again an entreaty, a request with folded hands :
“O Thou Holder-of-the-sword, O Thou Merciful-at-heart ! Take pity upon thy object-of-mercy
Kindly do a good turn to this treasure
By accepting it !
Don't take it as a gift
It is the very necklace of yours, an embellishment,
Is your triumph indeed,
Its consumption and usage
Is our defeat, O Lord !"
Filled into the bags upto the brim, the heap of pearls Peeping outside,
Hearing and understanding
The Potter-artisan's humble request,
Which is being made to the King;
And
Is grasping too
The ardent desire of the King's heart,
The bubbling up of the King's mentality
Which is inclined towards consent,
With an excuse of a faint smile upon the face :
- Is supposed to be whispering thus –
O King !
It becomes your high status, accept it –
