तथापि
इस विषय पर विचार करने से
विदित होता है कि
इस कार्य में धरती का ही प्रमुख हाथ है।
जल को मुक्ता के रूप में ढालने में
शुक्तिका-सीप कारण है
और
सीप स्वयं धरती का अंश है।
स्वयं धरती ने सीप की प्रशिक्षित कर
सागर में प्रेषित किया है।
जल को जड़त्व से मुक्त कर
मुक्ता-फल बनाना है,
पतन के गर्त से निकाल कर
उत्तुंग-उत्थान पर धरना,
धृति-धारिणी धरा का ध्येय है।
यही दया-धर्म है
यही जिया कर्म है।
फिर भी!
सबकी प्रकृति सही-सुलटी हो
यह कैसा सम्भव है ?
जल की उलटी चाल मिटती नहीं वह
जल का स्वभाव छल-छल उछलना नहीं है
उछलना केवल बहाना है उसका
उसका स्वभाव तो...छलना है।
मुक्तमुखी हो, ऊर्ध्वमुखी हो
सागर की असीम छाती पर
अनगिन शुक्तियाँ तैरती रहती हैं
जल-कणों की प्रतीक्षा में।
Nevertheless
It we ponder over it
It is found that
This achievement is obtained mainly due to the earth-factor. In transforming water into the shape of a pearl
The pearl-oyster is an eminent cause,
And
The pearl-oyster in itself is a part of the earth.
Having trained the pearl-oyster, the Earth itself
Has sent it into the ocean.
Having relieved the water of its stupor
And to mould it into a pearl form,
Having taken it out of the pit of decline
And to place it on an elevated position,
Is the objective of the patience-retaining Earth.
This is the real nature of compassion
This is the kārmic action of the Sentient Being.
- Even then !
How is it possible
That every body’s nature is honest and upright ?
The reverse move of water can never be uprooted
The nature of water is not that of gurgling with a leap
The leaping forward is only an excuse
Its nature is really...that of hoodwinking.
Being open-mouthed, supine-faced,
Countless pearl-oysters keep floating
Upon the broad chest of the ocean,
Waiting for the drops of water.
