जब कभी धरा पर प्रलय हुआ
यह श्रेय जाता है केवल जल को
धरती को शीतलता का लोभ दे
इसे लूटा है,
इसीलिए आज
यह धरती धरा रह गई है।
न ही वसुन्धरा न वसुधा रही !
और
वह जल रत्नाकर बना है-
बह्म-बहा कर
धरती के वैभव को ले गया है।
पर-सम्पदा की ओर दृष्टि का जाना
अज्ञान को बताता है,
और
पर सम्पदा हरण कर संग्रह करना
मोह-मूच्र्छा का अतिरेक है।
यह अति निम्न-कोटि का कर्म है
स्व-पर को सताना है,
नीच-नरकों में जा जीवन बिताना है।
इस निन्द्य कर्म करके
जलधि ने जड़-धी का,
बुद्धि-हीनता का परिचय दिया है।
अपने नाम को सार्थक बनाया है।
Whenever the universal destruction descends upon
the earth The concern goes only to water
By extending the allurement of coolness to earth,
It has been plundered,
That very is, indeed, the reason
Why this earth has remained bare ground to-day Neither could it become rich nor wealth - sustaining earth ! And
That water has become an ocean -a mine of jewels -
It has carried away with its rolling waves
The splendour of the earth.
The turning of one's eye towards the other’s wealth
Is an indication of ignorance,
And
The amassing of fortune through the seizure of
other's wealth Is the excess of illusion and infatuation.
It is a deed of very low quality,
It is to torture one's own self as well as that of the others, It is to lead a life down into the hellish regions.
By doing this derogatory deed
The ocean has acquainted us with its
Senseless mind and irrational intellect,
It has proved the significance of its own name.
