यहाँ आक्रमण हो रहा है
वहीं निकट में एक
गुलाब का पौधा खड़ा है
सुरभि से महकता।
और
ध्वनि गूँजती है सतेज
शूल-दलों की ओर से...
कि
इस बात को हम स्वीकारते हैं।
कि
दूसरों की पीड़ा-शल्य में
हम निमित्त अवश्य हैं
इसी कारण से हम शूल हैं
तथापि
सदा हमें शूल के रूप में ही देखना
बड़ी भूल है,
कभी कभी शूल भी
अधिक कोमल होते हैं।
... फूल से भी
और
कभी-कभी फूल भी
अधिक कठोर होते हैं।
...शूल से भी।
मृदु-मांसल गालों से
हमें छू लेती है
फूली पुष्पावली वह
इस कठिन चुभन से
उस मृदुता की कली-कली
खिल उठती है।
Here, where a raid is storming
A sapling of rose stands
There, near by
Emitting its fragrance.
And
From the band of thorns...
A spirited voice resounds
That
“We acknowledge the point
That
We are certainly an ‘apparent cause’-a ‘Nimitta’
Behind the woe and worry of others
Hence we are thorns;
Even then
It's a blunder
To see us barely in the form of a thorn,
At times, even the thorns
Are found softer
...Than flowers too
And
At times, even the flowers
Are found harder
...Than thorns too.
That blooming bunch of flowers
Touches us
With its tender fleshy cheeks
Due to this tough pricking
Every bud of that mildness
Takes flowering
