असर पड़ा है मार का
लगभग वह भी घटी है।
कहाँ तक कहें
काँटे की कँटीली काया
दिखती अब अटपटी-सी है।
इसमें सन्देह नहीं है।
प्रायः प्राण उसके कण्ठ-गत हैं।
श्वास का विश्वास नहीं अब,
फिर भी
आसमान का आधार आस है ना!
तन का बल वह
कण-सा रहता है।
और
मन का बल वह
मन-सा रहता है।
यह एक अकाटय नियम है।
हाँ। यही यहाँ पर घट रहा है।
कंटक का तन सो पूर्णतः
ज्वर से घिरा है।
फिर भी मिट नहीं रहा वह,
जी रहा है,
और उसका मन
मधुर ज्वार से भरा
रस पी रहा वह,
इस पर
किसका चित्त वह चकित नहीं होगा?
इस विस्मय का कारण भी सुनो!
मन को छल का सम्बल मिला है-
स्वभाव से ही मन चंचल होता है,
तथापि
Has been affected by knocking about,
It too, has almost decreased.
It goes without saying
That the prickly body of the thorn
Now appears to be disorderly.
It is beyond doubt, that
It may breathe its last at any moment
The life-breath now can not be relied upon,
Even then
The sky, indeed, hangs upon hope !
The strength of the body
Appears like that of a grain
And
The power of the mind
Appears like that of forty ‘seras’, that is a ‘mana’
It is a rule fit for ever.
Yes! it is, what is happening here,
The physical body of the thorn
Is entirely encircled with fever-
Even then it's not perishing
It is living its life,
And its desire-body, the mind,
Is relishing the flavour
Filled with sweet tides,
At this point
Whose heart shalln't feel astonished ?
Hear the cause too, of this surprise !
The mind has been supported by deception-
The mind is playful by nature,
Even then
