बहिर्मुखी अवश्य होता है।
और
जिस पर करुणा की जा रही है, वह
अधोमुखी...तो नहीं,
ऊर्ध्वमुखी अवश्य होता है।
तथापि,
ऊर्ध्वगामी होने का कोई नियम नहीं है।
करुणा की दो स्थितियाँ होती हैं-
एक विषय-लोलुपिनी
दूसरी विषय-लोपिनी, दिशा-बोधिनी।
पहली की चर्चा यहाँ नहीं है !
चर्चा-अर्चा दूसरी की है!
‘‘इस करुणा का स्वाद
किन शब्दों में कहूँ!
गर यकीन हो
नमकीन आँसूओं का
स्वाद है वह!"
इसीलिए
करुणा रस में
शान्त-रस का अन्तर्भाव मानना
बड़ी भूल है
उछलती हुई उपयोग की परिणति वह
करुणा है
नहर की भाँति!
और
उजली-सी उपयोग की परिणति वह
शान्त रस है
नदी की भाँति!
नहर खेत में जाती है
- He is certainly an extrovert.
And
The one on whom the mercy is being shown,
...Isn't really a downcast man,
- Is definitely the one with his face upcast.
Nevertheless,
There is no set rule about attaining the higher self”.
There are two states of compassion -
The one which is greedy towards sensuousness
The other which eliminates sensuousness, indicates
the right way. The first one is not under mention here
The second one is being referred to and adored !
"In what words should I describe
The flavour of this compassion !
If you believe
It is the taste
Of the saline tears !”
That is why
It is erroneous
To recognize the inclusion of the Sentiment of peace
Within the Sentiment of Compassion.
The earnest inclination leaping forward for
promoting its application
Like a canal
Is compassion !
And
The bright bent of mind devoted to ‘Self"
Like a silent river !
Is the Sentiment of Quietism ! A canal enters a field,
