एक अपूर्व सुख-शान्ति
संवेदित ही खेलती है उसमें।
फिर तुम ही बताओ
हम शूल कहाँ रहे?
वह फूल कहाँ रहे?
उस वासना की क्रीड़ा ने
हम पर आक्रमण किया है,
हमारी उपासना को
बड़ी पीड़ा पहुँचाई है
फिर भी क्या वह फूल
शूल नहीं है ?
लगता है, कि
दृष्टि में कहीं धूल पड़ी है!
हमें अपने शील-स्वभाव से
च्युत करने का प्रयास करती हैं
ललित-लताएँ ये...
हमसे आ लिपटती हैं
खुल कर आलिंगित होती हैं
तथापि
हम शूलों की शील-छवि
विगलित-विचलित ना होती,
नोकदार हमारे मुख पर आ
कर अपने राग-पराग डालती हैं।
तथापि
रागी नहीं बना पातीं हमें
हम पर
दाग नहीं लगा पातीं वह।
आशातीत इस नासा तक
अपनी सुरभि-सुगन्ध
A rare joy and tranquillity
Plays therein with a touching sense.
Then, it should be told by you, that
How do we remain thorns ?
How do they remain flowers ?
That lustful play
Has attacked us,
Has immensely
Put our adoration to troubles
Isn't that flower
A thorn, even then ?
It seems that
There lurks some dust into the eye !
These charming creepers...
Try to distract us
From our righteous disposition
Come forth to cling to us,
Get freely embraced -
Even then
The splendour of righteousness
Of the thorns, which we are,
Isn't melted or deviated,
They come to diffuse our prickly faces
With their pollen of affections
Nevertheless
They fail to make us impassioned
They aren't able to put
Blemish upon us.
Upto this nose, beyond expectation,
Their sweet-smelling
