लो ! हाथों-हाथ
संकल्प फलीभूत होता-सा
स्वप्न को साकार देखने की
आस-भरी
मछली की शान्त आँखें
ऊपर देखती हैं।
उतरता हुआ यान-सा दिखा,
लिखा हुआ था उस पर
‘‘ धम्मो दया-विसुद्धो”
तथा
‘‘ धम्मं सरणं गच्छामि”
ज्यों-ज्यों कूप में
उतरती गई बालटी
त्यों-त्यों नीचे,
नीर की गहराई में
झट-पट चले जाते
प्राण-रक्षण हेतु
मण्डूक आदिक अनगिन
जलीय-जन्तु।
किन्तु,
हलन-चलन-क्रिया मुक्त हो
अनिमेष-अपलक
निहारती हैं उतरती बालटी को
रसनाधीना रसलोलुपा
सारी मछलियाँ वे,
भोजन इससे कुछ तो मिलेगा
इस आशा से!
पर यह क्या ? वंचना...!
खाली बालटी देखकर
Lo! hastily
The resolve seeming to bear fruit,
The calm eyes of the fish
Expecting to see
The dreams being materialized
Cast a look upwards.
An aerial car, landing downwards, was sighted,
Which carried an inscription over it;
'Dhammo dayā-visuddho' -
-“ The religion consists in true compassion”
And
'Dhammam Saranam Gacchāmi' -
- “I seek the shelter of Dharma.”
The more the bucket
Moved down into the well,
In the like manner
The frogs etc.
Numerous watery creatures
Fathomed quickly
The depths of the water
To save their lives.
But,
Being free from any act of motion or commotion
With unwinkingly fixed eyes,
The tongue-tied and taste-greedy
All those fish
Stare at the descending bucket,
With the hope
They would get some food grains from it!
But, what wonder ? deception ...!
On seeing the hollow bucket
