वह मान का
बोना यानी वपन भी हो सकता है!’’
यूँ बीच में ही
कंकरों की ओर से
व्यंग्यात्मक तरंग आई
और
संग की संगति से अछूती
माटी के अंग को ही नहीं,
सीधी जा कर
अन्तरंग को भी छूती है।
वह ककरों की तरंग!
कि
तुरन्त ही,
“...नहीं...नहीं! धृष्टता हुई,
भूल क्षम्य हो माँ!
यह प्रसंग।
आपके विषय में घटित नहीं होता!”
और
कंकरों का दल रो पड़ा।
फिर, प्रार्थना के रूप में-
“ओ मानातीत मार्दव-मूर्ति,
माटी माँ!
एक मन्त्र दो इसे
जिससे कि यह
हीरा बने
और खरा बने कंचन-सा!”
कंकरों की प्रार्थना सुन कर
माटी की मुस्कान मुखरित होती
कि
‘‘संयम की राह चलो
It may also be the sowing of
The pride itself!”
Thus meanwhile,

On Hearing the request of the pebbles
The smile of Earth resounded;
That
“Take to the path of self-restraint
