‘‘अरे कंकरो!
माटी से मिलन तो हुआ
पर
माटी में मिले नहीं तुम!
माटी से छुवन तो हुआ
पर
माटी में घुले नहीं तुम!
इतना ही नहीं,
चलती चक्की में डाल कर
तुम्हें पीसने पर भी
अपने गुण-धर्म
भूलते नहीं तुम!
भले ही
चूरण बनते, रेतिल,
माटी नहीं बनते तुम!
जल के सिंचन से
भीगते भी हो
“The changing of water into milk, indeed,
Is a gain in category,
It's a boon in itself.
And
The becoming of milk sourish
Is the confused mixture of species
It's a curse !
It's the very outcome of this all."

"O thou pebbles !
You, indeed, mixed up with the Soil
But
You did not become one with the Soil !
You came in touch with the Soil
But,
You did not get dissolved into the Soil !
Not only this,
You do not forget
Your attributes and characteristics
In spite of you being powdered
Into a grinding mill!
It doesn't matter if
You are broken to pieces, turn sandy;
Still you do not become Soil!
You get drenched also
With the sprinkling of waters,
